Weekends are often hectic for us, and this weekend has definitely been quite a full on one. Unfortunately, it didn’t help that I woke up on Saturday morning with massive back pains and a stiff neck. But, I couldn’t really think of it too much, as we had a few things on our itinerary.
This is what Saturday looked like…
Rushing to get ready for a full and busy day.
The boys dropped us girls off at the gymnastics place before they head off for the boy’s soccer trials for next season (2014).
Gotta love the smile on the girl’s face as she hangs upside down on the bar. She started proper gymnastics this term (starting July) and she has been loving it. Gym training lasts 2 hours every Saturday during term time.
Balancing on the beam.
The boy at soccer trials. He has been going back and forth on whether or not he would return to soccer next year because it’s a massive commitment. He has been playing for the same club since he was 5, and said he might miss it too much if he doesn’t play again next year.
The girl playing with a friend while waiting for her brother at soccer.
Eating an early lunch at Maccas after soccer. Yes, we are a family that eat at Maccas every now and then.
Playing at the Maccas playground. Both kids managed to find friends to play with.
The little gym monkey climbing the walls of the cubby house, refusing to leave.
The kids wanted to pose with Ronald before we left.
Shopping for a new bed. We also ended up buying a new frying pan from the shop next door.
The boy didn’t order at Maccas earlier because he wanted some wicked wings from KFC. So, we went for a drive through to get his wings.
The boys were going to go for a haircut at their favourite barber near Brighton Beach. So, the girl and I decided to take a walk in the area while the boys went to the barber. We received a call a few minutes later saying they missed the barber, as it just shut for the day.
The kids begged to play at the playground. It was a lovely day, so we relented.
The hubby, showing off his hand stand, as he tried to teach the kids hand stands and cartwheels.
The girl, practicing.
The boys giving the li’l girl a swing on the way to the café.
Sharing an ice cream waffle basket. Favourite flavour: salted caramel!
After we got home, I was so exhausted, with the migraines recurring, as well as having a lot of neck and back pain, I ended up napping. Got up around 6pm to make dinner and eat with the family.
Made beef and vegie stir fry with cashew nuts for dinner. After dinner, I was feeling really grumpy and tired still, perhaps, partly due to the pain. I still blogged but decided not to take any more photos for the day. Sometimes, you just have to stop, I suppose.
Stats and Stuff

Some Notes and Thoughts
- Being in physical pain can really affect one’s psyche and emotional well-being. When my back aches won’t go away and the migraines started to come back, I was getting increasingly unhappy and snappy. Felt bad that the family had to suffer that snippy part. But, it was a reminder that it’s important to stay healthy so everyone can stay happy.
- Days like today really mean a lot to the kids. The girl is more vocal with expressing this, but I can see this even with the boy. They love having us together as a family. Even though the hubby’s the more active parent (as in, the one who plays with them actively – running around, etc), they still enjoy having me there. Even just to chat and laugh with. Or just be there taking photos and watching them do their thing. They just want us all together.
- Adelaide always comes alive when the sun is out. That’s why spring and summer are so lovely here. It’s great to live near the sea. Something about it just makes us feel so much better.
